Mini Post...

I know I have posted today but I have a few more things that didn't fit in with the last post.
Firstly I would like to say a HUGE

THANK YOU!

For all your lovely comments on my last few posts. I love reading your comments and it always a relief to know you are not just babbling to yourself. I don't always get time to reply to comments but each and everyone brings a smile and I appreciate that you take the time to read my ramblings x

Secondly I am on a mission. M is for March and Management and Money.
Put them together and you have

MONEY MANAGEMENT MARCH!

I am going to spend March doing all I can to spend as little as possible and start managing all my money a lot better. I don't know about anyone else but I have good months and bad months. Thankfully good months outweigh the bad but when I do have a bad month it leaves me chasing my tale a little.
So pay all bills, buy everything as cheaply as possible and save!
Please wish me luck and please send me any tips you may have on extreme thrifting...

I loved your hexagons and your visit to the museum of Welsh life....so interesting.
If you want money advice read "frugal queen", she's on my blog roll and always inspiring.

  2. Good luck! I find that planning meals for the week before writing my shopping list makes such a difference to what I spend. No more dashing to Sainsbury's and accidentally spending £20! x

    1. I definitely need to plan meals, I buy meat, freeze it, forget to take it out of the freezer, freezer gets fuller!

    2. LOL, Emma--me too! My hubby 'threatens' to get rid of our freezer because of its ever increasing weight :) :)

  3. I love this idea and might nab it from you, at least to be more conscious of how I am spending.

  4. Good luck with money saving march, making a shopping list and sticking to it works for me although I shop online if I went in the store I fear it would be a riskier business.

  5. I wish you luck on your money saving march. Something that work well for me is planning a menu payday to payday. This keeps me from having to run to the grocery in between except for fresh produce and milk. I look forward to reading the tips you receive from readers.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  6. All the best with this!! I too have good months and bad months but like you am committed to try to spend as little as possible. I am thinking of joining the local resale again where I can sell and buy new clothes for the beans. I can't wait to hear how this goes for you!! Happy week to you!!! Nicole xoxo

    1. This is great, I have set up a new waste management group on facebook so everyone locally can start sharing and donating locally things they don't need, want or use even food :)

  7. Yes, I have a wee bit of good advice Emma, don't take your hubby with you when you go shopping for groceries!!!
I'm wishing you all the very best for March and I think just keeping aware of your plans will help you avoid situations where you might be tempted to over-spend. Joy x

  8. Hello Emma

Thanks for stopping by to say hello and leaving such a lovely comment. I'm not the best person to give any advice about spending less, I try my best but we always skid into payday with about a tenner in the bank. What did really help me was signing up to Dottie Angels thrift challenge a few years ago. For a year I pledged to buy only secondhand, handmade and vintage. All stuff I did, but with no new thrown in. It got me re-thinking the way I was completely and so we've become a lot less wasteful Major thing is when I do have money I only buy it if I absolutely know I need it or will use it. Gone are the days of just grabbing because I liked. Doubt any help to you. Good luck. X

    1. I always try and buy pre-loved items, it is even better when there are things that people don't want and are eager to get rid of. I have got my tvs(the huge, old kind) table, units etc all like this as people think they are out dated.

  10. Best tip I got was that you can cook meat in your your crock pot from frozen. Means even if you forgot to take it out you can still make the dinner you planned :-)

  11. Good luck with your money saving March. I always make a meal plan each week, make a shopping and try my best to stick with it.... I try to stick to my list anyway! Easier if I do the shopping alone! frugal queens blog is well worth a look, she has lots of advice and I also like the money saving expert forums for advice and a heads up on various grocery deals.

  12. When money has been really tight I tend to eat veggie as much as poss, if that isn't an option, chickpeas and butterbeans are great for bulking out chicken dishes, mushrooms and kidney beans for beef and apples - pref Bramley - for pork. As others have said, plan meals ahead. If you use branded cleaning products have a google and try alternatives. If you don't already shop online, that can be a great way to think about what you are buying and also not shop for stuff you don't need. Another thing (if you're stocked) is to dig out any ingredients sitting around in the back of cupboards, swap them with friends' stuff or google dishes you can make with them to use them up. As tinned and frozen fruit & veg are usually as good for you, if they are cheaper than fresh, stock up :) I think that is about all I have sorry! H xxx
