A Little Ta-Dah!...

Well. The worlds slowest knitter has a knitted Ta-Dah!
This is not by any means something amazing and intricate but it is something that I have fallen more and more in love with, with each row.
I stayed up til the wee hours last night as I was so, so close to finishing.
As soon as my eyes opened this morning I was back on it.

TA DAH!!!
Here it is. A very basic knitted cushion cover. Knitted with cream aran it is perfect as a blank canvas and so soft.

Once the knitting part was complete it was time to make decisions on embellishments. I had been thinking about this as it was knitted up. Changing my mind on design and colours, drifting off into my own little world picturing it all finished and pretty and sitting happily on my sofa. At first I wanted something grey and large on the front but after receiving my new wool delivery the decision was made for me.

The first task was buttons. I went through my HUGE stash and found some matching toggles. Perfect!
Toggles automatically take me back to my childhood and big brown duffle coats. So warm and so indestructible, even for a very active child like me.

I am really new to this cushion cover malarky. I have gone for an envelope type closure. I did it with a previous crochet cushion and it seems to cope well the battering from the children.

(This cushion was made using the yarn I got from the £ store, bargain cushion!)

Next came the design part. I decided to use the Erika Knight wool. It is so soft for 100% wool.
The colours are absolutely gorgeous.

Shades used are
Erika Knight 41 Iced Gem
Erika Knight 34 Bambi

I went with love hearts. They are everywhere still and I was inspired. I used(again with a little tampering) Cherry Hearts Boho Hearts  pattern.

Messing and checking and messing again I finally put them together and was really happy with the lay out. Some sewing ensued and very quickly it all came together...

TA DAH!!!

There it is. I am so happy with how it has turned out. So simple but that is what I love about it. The colours just make me smile and fit right in with the colours in my lounge. It would look lovely in all different colours though.
I love looking around my home like you all do in your own homes and seeing the things that I have created to make it so much more homely. I feel a little bit of pride and so much satisfaction.

I hope my little knitted project has made you smile and I hope you are all having a great day.

Happy Wednesday x

Goings On...

Afternoon lovely people and welcome to my new followers, it is a relief when you know you are not actually writing to yourself and an honour that people find your blog nice enough to follow. You have all made me a happy lady so Thank You xxx

So, there has been nothing and something going on in my mad crazy world. The mood has been a little all over the place so I am taking it easy doing my favourite thing...

Isn't it cosy? I am so blessed that I can have these moments, even if I have to go through all the physical pain and mental torment I am still grateful that I can sit and crochet when things get tough.

I had another delivery over the weekend YAY!
I had some John Lewis vouchers over a year ago for my 30th birthday and I decided(once I found them again!) to buy yarn :)

Total luxury. The first lot is Erika Knight vintage wool. The colours are wonderful and it is more of an aran weight when you feel it than a DK.
The second is Rowan creative linen. It has a sturdy cotton feel.
I love the look of skeins but, they are a nightmare to ball up by hand when they are a big one like the rowan. It took the man and I an hour to ball up 4 skeins, but I can think of worse ways to spend my time :)

I like this...4.5mm is my fave hook size and it is perfect for this yarn which means it will work up a bit faster.

A little effort but how pretty do they look???

I have already started my project with the linen but you will have to wait and see. I am desperate to spend all my time on it but I really do have to finish my multiple WIPs before I can dedicate the hours needed.
*JOHN LEWIS vouchers DO NOT have a use by date...an excellent gift for someone like me who takes an age to spend vouchers(because I misplace them sometimes...all the time!)

On Saturday it was our cousins 30th birthday and being a fab lady she had a 1950s themed party.
I was excited. I did wish that I was slim again and could fit into my spare bridesmaid dress that I had from my wedding, but thankfully I did have a dress in the wardrobe that 'just' fitted.

(not a fan of full length pics but trying to be honest with myself...)

Some of the girls did a fab dance to 'Candy Man' (birthday girl is in tartan)
It was fab and everyone was in the rock'n'roll spirit.

And that is it, the goings on over the last few days. I am now about to start my knitted project again...worlds slowest knitter hehe!

Hope you are all having a great day

Happy Tuesday x

Tuesday Treasures...

Hello lovelies. Well I have had a really lovely Tuesday. After doing the morning sprucing(clearing up morning mess that 3 bugs create) smallest bugs room was completely cleaned. He had a huge play fest yesterday(you know when every single toy has to come out?)
Then it was complete bliss...
Glorious sunshine reflecting off my darning needle as I sew in lots of colourful, little ends of my coasters to be. They just need a little shower of starch and they will be ready to add to the spring look that is coming along...Excited for Spring...

A rare site. I am such a slow and novice knitter that I rarely use the clickety clackers hehe. I am creating a cushion inspired from one I have seen on pinterest(my serious addiction...if there is pinterest rehab I think I need a visit!)

Happy daffodils opening up to absorb the glorious sunshine. It was so warm with the sun streaming in through the window. A stark contrast to the bitter cold outside. We even had light flakes of snow.

After we got home from the school run(and an excellent parents evening. I am always so proud of them) we needed hot chocolates to warm up. Daddy introduced the sprinkles at Christmas and now they insist upon them, and who can blame them? They make it a lot more exciting.

Reading aloud as Mummy knits. I love to hear their interpretations and voices. These precious moments are my favourite. Having the illness I have, I can't always take in these moments and they pass me by. It is so upsetting, so I soak them up every chance I get.

Smallest Bug aka The Boss, wanted snacks after dinner. He loves indoor picnics and grabs this blanket every time. He thinks it is the perfect picnic blanket and I am inclined to agree.
It was Mummys turn to read as they devoured fruit and fromage frais. Even the big ones love stories being read out. I think there is a little child in all of us that remember being read to and drifting off into the story.
Roald Dahl is a firm favourite and I have to say this one is my bestest hehe!

I hope you all had a lovely day too x
