Well. The worlds slowest knitter has a knitted Ta-Dah!
This is not by any means something amazing and intricate but it is something that I have fallen more and more in love with, with each row.
I stayed up til the wee hours last night as I was so, so close to finishing.
As soon as my eyes opened this morning I was back on it.
TA DAH!!!
Here it is. A very basic knitted cushion cover. Knitted with cream aran it is perfect as a blank canvas and so soft.
Once the knitting part was complete it was time to make decisions on embellishments. I had been thinking about this as it was knitted up. Changing my mind on design and colours, drifting off into my own little world picturing it all finished and pretty and sitting happily on my sofa. At first I wanted something grey and large on the front but after receiving my new wool delivery the decision was made for me.
The first task was buttons. I went through my HUGE stash and found some matching toggles. Perfect!
Toggles automatically take me back to my childhood and big brown duffle coats. So warm and so indestructible, even for a very active child like me.
I am really new to this cushion cover malarky. I have gone for an envelope type closure. I did it with a previous crochet cushion and it seems to cope well the battering from the children.
(This cushion was made using the yarn I got from the £ store, bargain cushion!)
Next came the design part. I decided to use the Erika Knight wool. It is so soft for 100% wool.
The colours are absolutely gorgeous.
Shades used are
Erika Knight 41 Iced Gem
Erika Knight 34 Bambi
I went with love hearts. They are everywhere still and I was inspired. I used(again with a little tampering) Cherry Hearts Boho Hearts pattern.
Messing and checking and messing again I finally put them together and was really happy with the lay out. Some sewing ensued and very quickly it all came together...
TA DAH!!!
There it is. I am so happy with how it has turned out. So simple but that is what I love about it. The colours just make me smile and fit right in with the colours in my lounge. It would look lovely in all different colours though.
I love looking around my home like you all do in your own homes and seeing the things that I have created to make it so much more homely. I feel a little bit of pride and so much satisfaction.
I hope my little knitted project has made you smile and I hope you are all having a great day.
Happy Wednesday x
